Respect the mountain
Respect the mountain.
It’s a simple rule that many seem to forget.
While ski patrolling I regularly have deal with people who jump avalanche closure fences. They often feel that somehow they’ve been wronged, that somehow they know better than the people who work the mountain everyday all winter.
They don’t.

Ideals and Questions
Some books elicit complaints that they are too idealistic.
The complaint misses the point. While it is true that the world of some stories is unattainable those world’s are worth striving for.
For example, Jon Muth’s The Three Questions. A Zen adaptation of Tolstoy story it is very idealistic. One reader review states:
